On October 27, Cannery Hall in Nashville will host Justice Jam, a benefit concert bringing together artists from across the spectrum to support the fight against wrongful convictions.
Organized by the Tennessee Innocence Project and in partnership with the Washington Innocence Project, the event features an impressive lineup led by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and country star Dierks Bentley. But beyond the music, the mission is deeply personal for the people working to ensure that innocent individuals are not forgotten by the justice system.
Ahead of the show, I spoke with Mike McCready and Jason Gichner, executive director of the Tennessee Innocence Project, about the importance of their organizations, the work being done to help wrongfully convicted individuals, and the role Justice Jam can play in bringing greater awareness to this cause.
